Building Success Through Service  04/22/08

Good afternoon New Age Entrepreneur friends.  I hope you are having a fabulous spring day.  I know I am.  I am sitting at the keyboard looking out the window to crystal blue skies while I pet my magic white-Siamese cat Juno (he loves to sit on my desk when I am typing).

Thanks to the full moon Grand Earth Trine we just had on Sunday (in the signs of Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), I am feeling particularly productive.  For new age entrepreneurs, this was a very important alignment, since it stimulated our capacity to build, serve, & attain.

Taurus is the sign of the builder.  We all have a builder within us and we all have a place in our lives where we need to create a more solid foundation & sense of stability.  This is Taurus.

Virgo, on the other hand, is the sign of the servant, the worker, and the server.  It is the “busy bee” of the zodiac.  The sun is in Virgo from about August 23 to September 23rd…..the time of the first harvest.  We all have a place within us that can “bear good fruit”.  We all have a part of us that longs to serve and to give help & sustenance to other people….this is Virgo.

Finally, Capricorn.  Ah, Capricorn.  That wily ol’ goat.  In the old astrology, Capricorn is the sea goat…the creature that starts at the fathomless depths of the ocean and then proceeds to climb to the top of the highest peaks.   Capricorn is the great Overcomer, the underdog that rises up to become the top dog, the one who whom for there are no shortcuts.  We all have a place within us where we must *overcome*, and we all have karma to master so that we may attain the highest expression of ourselves.  This is Capricorn.

Capricorn is the sign of attainment, but Taurus & Virgo are the signs of building & serving respectively.  Taurus and Virgo both come before Capricorn in the natural order of the zodiac, which I believe is the Universe’s way of indicating to us that before we can attain our dreams & spiritual mastery, we must first create a solid foundation and find a rewarding way to serve.

In the context of new age entrepreneurism, this means that *before* you can become a highly successful artist, musician, speaker, leader, author, healer, reader, or business owner, you are probably going to need to create a solid emotional & financial foundation for yourself.   In other words, you are going to need to create a kind of inner stability before you will see outer stability in the realm of “achievement”.

No matter how “spiritual” or “evolved” you may consider yourself to be, you must first learn to take care of your basic physical world needs (such as food, shelter, and some degree of physical as well as emotional comfort) before the Universe will entrust you with great levels of “success”.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t have *some* success before you have mastered creating a solid foundation for yourself.  It just means that, to a great extent, how much success you are able to experience hinges on your ability to stay “centered” while in the material world & master the daily details of life.  (Yes, this does mean things like laundry, sweeping the floors, paying the bills, taking care of the kids, and providing a home for yourself.)

Of course, just creating a solid foundation for yourself isn’t enough to reach your highest potential as a lightworker or new age entrepreneur, simply because being a new age entrepreneur isn’t only about yourself.  It is also about reaching out in love and compassion to others, which is where the Virgo “requirement” comes in.

To be successful as a New Age Entrepreneur, you must not only think about your own success but you must also think about what you can give to others & how you can best serve at the time.

Notice I said, “best serve at the time”.  You may want to serve as a highly regarded spiritual teacher doing a national speaking tour.  But if the only “teaching” job that is available to you right now is working with the children of your church during Sunday school, then you may want to take it.

Why?  Because it is an opportunity to serve, and even if it is not the opportunity which you eventually hope to “attain” (there’s that word again), it *does* give you a chance to share your gifts with the world & help others, which is what service is all about.  Also, by being willing to do the “small” jobs in life, it proves to the Universe that you are ready for the “big” jobs, and you will find greater & greater doors opening for you.

Unselfish service is the path to attainment.  By putting our own agenda aside to help another, we gain fulfillment of our highest destiny.

Of courses, you don’t want to *martyr* yourself (hurting yourself is still hurting a living being, and does not contribute a thing to the enlightenment of the planet).  Service must be balanced with that “solid foundation” we talked about earlier.  Which is to simply say that you must learn to take care of yourself before you inspire or take care of other people.  Once you have done this, you must then learn to think about other people, and to share your gifts with the world in the best way possible at the time.

This might mean writing a newsletter, designing a web page, volunteering at church or your local spiritual center, doing a complimentary reading or healing for a stranger or a friend, giving a free talk, or just being willing to listen or “help out” at a time when it is most needed.

And the more you do this—the more you willingly serve & share your gifts with the world (even in ways that don’t seem that “significant” or “ideal” to you) the more success, prosperity & influence you will attain, and the more Light you will help to spread upon our planet.
